New HIV Management Guidelines

This course: ART Clinical Guideline is intended to serve as a guide for antiretroviral treatment (ART) in adults, pregnant women, adolescents and paediatric clients, The objectives of this document are to: 

• Provide guidance on initiation of ART in antiretroviral-naïve clients as well as those returning to care in the era of dolutegravir (DTG) 

• Provide guidance for switching of clients already on ART to DTG-containing regimens 

• Highlight critical areas for provision of ART, TB, and family planning. 

This year’s update includes the following: 

1. Regimen choice for 1st and 2nd line regimens 

2. Rationale for a better 1st line ART regimen 

3. Safe use of DTG in pregnancy 

4. Transitioning stable patients on 1st and 2nd line to DTG 

5. Use of Protease Inhibitor fixed-dose combinations 

6. Pediatric dosing and use of pellets 

7. TB preventative Treatment and Pregnancy 

8. Updated algorithm on Fluconazole Prophylaxis Therapy 

9. Use of the Urinary LAM to diagnose TB With a focus on immediate application, participants will work on a series of clinical case studies and exercises.

The course is aimed for clinicians who wish to improve and update their knowledge and clinical skills for HIV prevention.
