About the event
HIV Masterclass: Only active members are eligible for CPD accredited certificates.
Overview
At the end of 2020, 27.5 million people were receiving antiretroviral therapy worldwide. HIV drug resistance can compromise the effectiveness of antiretroviral drugs in reducing HIV incidence and HIV-associated morbidity and mortality. Up to 10% of adults starting HIV treatment can have drug resistance to the NNRTI drug class. Despite treatment with potent medicines and even when adherence to treatment is supported, some HIV drug resistance is expected to emerge. This webinar will outline basic concepts in HIV Resistance, including mechanisms of resistance and mutations development, interpretation of genotype results, interventions to prevent HIV drug resistance, and an emphasis on dolutegravir-based antiretroviral regimens.
